Rep. Hanson Announces Run for Re-Election in Iowa House



State Representative Curt Hanson of Fairfield announced today that he will seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives for House District 82 which includes Davis, Jefferson, and Van Buren counties.

Hanson is currently serving his fourth term in the Iowa House. He serves as ranking member of the Natural Resources Committee and also serves on Agriculture, Environmental Protection, Education and the Education Appropriations Subcommittee.

Rep. Hanson is a retired driver’s education teacher at Fairfield High School and was named Fairfield Teacher of the Year in 1994.  He and his wife Diane live in Fairfield and have two grown children and five grandchildren. Hanson is the former president of the Iowa Association of Safety Education, and the former business manager of the Iowa Association of Safety Education.  He is a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Fairfield Kiwanis, and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.

Hanson_Steckman_ASCDOn February 11th, Representatives Curt Hanson and Sharon Steckman met with members of Iowa Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), a network of educational leaders from around the state. They were visiting the statehouse to discuss issues such as timely funding for schools, 3rd grade reading retention, and Smarter Balance testing.
